Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion begins in the Second Grade.
The central mission of our Religious Education Program at Christ the King is to aid the parents in fulfilling their role as the primary educators of their children by providing for the moral, spiritual, and intellectual formation of the children. Our Sacrament preparation guidelines for First Communion are as follows:
This class is for all children over the age of 8, who have NOT been baptized. Children are prepared for full initiation which includes the sacraments of Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.
The RCIC class helps the child to discover their faith in God and to experience God's love in their own lives through prayer, Mass, and celebration of Sacraments. This is achieved first and foremost within the support from the child's family and the assistance of the catechists and ministries of Christ the King.
Thank you for answering the call from the Holy Spirit to learn more about the Catholic Sacraments for your children and your family.
Every child's need from the Church is different going into RCIC. Please call the parish office to help guide you and your child through this process.
Confirmation is an 8-week program in addition to our youth ministry program, Sunday Night Lights! Young Catholics are eligible for Confirmation when they have already received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation and First Communion, and are in 10th - 12th grades.
The goal of the Confirmation program is to help students to deepen their personal relationship with God, to develop their sense of belonging in a living Christian community, and to personally ratify their membership in the Catholic Church. It is assumed that the process of confirming the faith has been ongoing in their lives and that it will continue to be renewed long after they have completed the program.
