I, my husband Rick, and our four kids have been members of Christ the King for four years. Prior to moving here, the Air Force provided us the opportunity to experience many different Catholic parishes around the country where I have been an RE and RCIA teacher, EHMC, and a member/leader of the CTK Women’s Ministry and Ft Drum and Ft Leavenworth Catholic Women of the Chapel. I have also been active in Bible studies and couple’s marriage enrichment groups. I would be honored to serve you as a Pastoral Council member.
I have been a member of Christ the King Church for 18 months now. I served in the US Army for 21.5 years from 1998 and retired as a Major in October of 2019. I have been a Registered Nurse for 19 years with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, and a Master’s Degree in Human Relations. My specialty is Behavioral Health Nursing for 17 years. I worked as a Behavioral Health Nurse Manager in four Army Medical Hospitals, and also became a Director of Nursing at Oceans Behavioral Hospital, at Waco, Texas. I was a facilitator for the Synodal Listening Session at Christ the King Church. I serve as a Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC), and as Adult Minister of the Altar (AMA). While in the Army, I participated in various Knights of Columbus activities as a 4th Degree Knight. Christ the King is a parish that is so welcoming that I want to be an integral part of its growth.
I've been with Christ The King for 10 years, member of the Guadalupanos Ministry and their Matachines Danza group. I would like to offer the perspective of our Hispanic parishioners to the council and help us grow as the Body of Christ in our community. Thank you for the consideration and the opportunity.
I'm a cradle Catholic. I've been married to my husband Steve for 36 years, we have three grown children, and 5.5 grandchildren! I am retired Army, a Physician Assistant for 24 years, and 6 years ago added Massage Therapist to my resume. God led me to these career fields and showed me how much I love caring for people. In addition to this, I have been a Eucharistic Minister, have been deeply involved with ACTS retreats, and assisted with past Welcome Committee weekends wearing that bright yellow shirt! Currently, I instruct Natural Family Planning for the parish. I love God very much and take His great commission seriously, to "Go Forth". I would greatly enjoy taking everyone along with me as well as help all on their journey to a deeper relationship with God.
Christ the King has been my home parish since 1972. My husband and I raised our four children and three grandchildren here, participating in more ministries than I can remember...Spanish choir, lector, EMHC, CCD teacher, Guadalupanos, Meals on Wheels, food pantry, immigration assistance, visiting door to door, bingo, Junefest, etc. I have also had a long career in the restaurant industry. I am willing to serve on the Pastoral Council because I always say "Yes!" when God calls me.
My family and I have been parishioners of Christ The King since moving to Belton in 2010. I have been active with many ministries including That Man Is You, Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion, Lector, Adult Minister of the Altar, Knights of Columbus, and ACTS. Outside of church, I am a therapeutic optometrist practicing in Killeen, a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force Reserves, a proud father of Ashland and Zachary, and husband to Cristin.
The Pastoral Council, consisting of nine to twelve members, represents the parish community acting as liaison to the pastor. Members stay current with affairs concerning the parish and give insight for planning and implementing policies and parish activities. The council, elected by the parish or appointed by the pastor, serves in a consultative role to him, seeking consensus on issues for the common good of the parish. Elected members serve a three-year term, and meet every other month.
Membership on the Pastoral Council is open to all registered members of the parish who are fully initiated in the Catholic Church (baptism, communion, and confirmation) and in good standing. Prospective candidates should have a sense of the parish mission: to unleash a culture of discipleship in the parish.
