Moses serves as the central focus for this week’s lesson and we learn about how God calls Moses, an unlikely hero of faith, to lead the Israelites to freedom. This is physical freedom from slavery in Egypt, but more importantly a spiritual freedom from the worship of Egyptian gods. This happens dramatically through the Passover, a do-or-die proposition to be faithful. However, almost immediately after the Israelites are liberated and the entire nation enters into covenant with God, they become impatient and fall back into idolatry. In Moses, we have an example of how we are to call others to holiness.
