Today, we highlight our Youth Minister, Josh Janda. Josh joined Christ the King in June of 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, and during a time that all of us were “locked down”. Being fresh out of college, his passion for youth was unwavering. He believed that the Holy Spirit could bring our teens into a relationship with Jesus Christ despite the hardships. He planned, then changed his plans, and changed his plans again to accommodate ways to reach out to as many youth as he could.
Josh made an impact on our youth and we thank him for that!
Of all the character traits that Josh has, there are three outstanding gifts that stand out:
Being an advocate – Josh worked behind the scenes to be an advocate for our teenagers. He reminded others that teenagers matter to God and that they should matter to our church.
Being a mentor – Josh was a mentor to our youth. Now, as he leaves youth ministry to enter into another realm of his life, he has an important qualification that most people don’t. Even though he now has a different “pastoral role”, he knows the joys and pains of being a youth minister and knows the hearts of teens.
Being a catholic –Josh models true discipleship. He, showed teens how to live a virtuous life. He knew how to answer the difficult questions that teens are brave enough to ask.
The last two years of the pandemic did not come without bumps and bruises for everyone. We made it through with much prayer and support. But in the end, our teens will remember Josh, even years from now, they will say, “I remember my Youth Minister who, ---”.
Today we will not say goodbye to you, Josh – just, “farewell and God Bless” as you journey on another path that the Holy Spirit is leading you! You likely became a Youth Minister because you love being with and serving young people, so keep doing what you love and may the Holy Spirit guide you and protect you!
